Faculty & Staff FAQs

Question: What is the Faculty Build?

The Faculty Build is a collection of programs and utilities which comes bundled with Windows XP Professional edition. It includes a standard Windows XP install, but includes various software already included such as the Mozilla Suite, Microsoft Office 2003 or 2007, CD Burner XP Pro, and the current version of Adobe Reader amongst other things. It also includes the latest version of Sophos Anti virus. As well as various software applications, it has critical Windows updates already installed. For the end user, it is a convenient solution for installing Windows on their computer, because it includes a lot of things which would normally need to be downloaded and installed separately. The Faculty Build is what the Arts and Science IT Support staff configure on most new and old machines alike within the College of Arts and Science.
