The REDress Project: Opening Events

The REDress Project

Artist: Jaime Black

Sep. 17 - Oct. 5, 2014

The REDress Project is an art installation and critical response to the hundreds of reported cases of murdered or disappeared Indigenous women across Canada. Through the collection and public display of empty red dresses, the installation seeks to create space for dialogue around the gendered and racialized nature of violence against Indigenous women. The REDress project will be installed in Agriculture, Arts, Education, Geology and the Bowl.

Artist Jaime Black is of Anishnaabe and European descent, based in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Exhibition maps are available at the sites and in the Aboriginal Student Centre.
