Applying to the Master's Program

The deadline to apply is February 15th if you wish to begin the program in September and be considered for funding.

 

There is no January admission.

 

To review the progress of your application, including any documents or other items that need to be submitted, please log back in to your online application for admission which can be found by clicking on the link: Check your application status.

  • A four-year undergraduate honours degree in political science, or its equivalent
  • A cumulative weighted average of at least 70% in the last two years of full-time undergraduate study (e.g. 60 credit units of course work).
  • International applicants must meet the English proficiency requirements set forth by the College of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

  1. APPLY to the College of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies online
    • Graduate (B) Fall term start - September
  2. SUBMIT PAYMENT of $120 during the online application process.  Your application will be not be processed until payment is received.
    • When preparing your application, please plan to pay your application online using Visa or Mastercard. International students will have the option to pay using Flywire. 
    • If you are unable to pay your application fee online, you may call 1-306-966-5788 for assistance. 
  3. TRANSCRIPTS - your educational history from all post-secondary institutions you've attended
    • Must be uploaded on your online application.
  4. STATEMENT OF INTEREST
    • 2 – 3 page document stating your research and academic interests, related experience, and particular faculty member(s) as your potential supervisor(s) if known.  If you do not know a faculty member and have been accepted to the program, we will work with you to identify a supervisor.
    • Upload on your online application.
  5. ACADEMIC WRITING SAMPLE:
    • 5 – 10 pages; preferably submitted for a university-level course (please add your name on the document)
    • Upload on your online application.
  6. RESUMÉ/CURRICULUM VITAE:
    • Upload on your online application.
  7. SUCCESSFUL LANGUAGE TEST:
    • if English is your second language; see language requirements here.  Please upload on your online application.
  8. THREE (3) REFERENCE LETTERS:
    • During the online application, you must enter contact information for 3 ACADEMIC referees (not personal or employment).  Once your application is submitted, the referees will receive an email to fill out an electronic form that will automatically be sent to the Department.
