Ages 5-6: Art Exploration

Saturdays 9-10am
8 weeks: September 20 to November 15 (no class October 11)
Location: In-person Williams Building room 243
$160 (supplies included)
- Please bring a water bottle and snack.
- Art classes may involve materials that can stain or damage clothing. Work shirts are available, but students are encouraged to wear clothing suitable for messy activities.
In this class, children will be offered many opportunities to explore their creativity and learn and develop new skills in the visual arts in a fun and supportive environment. Through a wide variety of media and tools, students will gain knowledge and skills in a way that engages, challenges, and inspires them. Topics will include:
- Getting to know our materials
- Drawing: line, shape
- Painting: color, form, space, and texture
- Sculpture: form and space
- Mixed media: texture, stamps, and collage
- Composition
- Getting to know our ideas
- Drawing: subject matter and how to find and explore it
- Painting: what do you want to paint?
- Sculpture: an animal, person, or creature of your own creation using various media
- Mixed media: adding props and environments to your figurative work
- Collaboration
Please note that the instructor may repeat some art processes each term, but with different projects.
