About this event

Join Julio Torres-Recinos for the launch of his short story collection Aurora, Afterwards, and Other Stories (previously published as Con Aurora después y otros cuentos) with guest host Jeanette Lynes of the Department of English.

Aurora, Afterwards, and Other Stories is a collection of 16 short stories written between 1986-2016. Some of the stories take place in El Salvador during the civil war (1980-1992), while others take place during the post-war era. There are stories that take place in Canada, the United States, and other countries. Very often, the characters are immigrants who have to adapt to a new life in the host country, which can be difficult for some people. These stories are written in the realist style, to transport the reader to the time and place depicted in the narratives.

Sponsored by the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies
