She has educated others as a Fellow for many institutions, has taught across Canada and Europe, and has authored several books and articles. In March 2018, she was named Canada 150 Research Chair in Global Governance and Security, and currently serves as the director of the Centre for International Peace and Security Studies at McGill University. She is also a Rhodes Scholar, the first female in Saskatchewan to achieve this prestigious designation. Dr. Welsh was recently announced as a University of Saskatchewan Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award Winner and she received the College of Arts and Science's Alumni of Influence Award in 2009.

About this talk
Dr. Welsh will discuss a current project she has been co-leading that examines the failures of multilateral cooperation during the pandemic, and what kinds of changes to the multilateral architecture might be required and implemented after the pandemic. She will also discuss what can be learned from other efforts at international cooperation to address common threats (weapons of mass destruction, the environment, etc.).
