In this presentation, Professor Chirkov will describe some results from the two-year project on safety in the Saskatchewan mining industry funded by the International Minerals Innovation Institute. The talk will mainly focus on psychological, social and cultural aspects of occupational safety as it is investigated by current safety science researchers. The systemic nature of safety behavior and the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to study it will be emphasized.

Members of the university community and the general public are welcome to attend this presentation, which is part of the Department of Psychology’s monthly colloquium series.
